The full and half marathon return to the Ouray to Ridgway course for another year. This is the 18th annual half marathon and 8th annual marathon. Count on another great event!

Even though we will not have an early start option this year, we will be providing support on the course well into early afternoon so that all the marathon and half marathon participants have plenty of time to finish.  We love our walkers and any of our participants are free to walk or run the course at any point during the race. Again, there will be plenty of race staff and refreshments at the finish line for all!

Similar to other races in the industry, Mt. Sneffels does not refund entry fees, an entry fee into this year’s race does not transfer to next year’s event. This policy applies to individuals with injuries, unexpected business, family emergencies, etc. Additionally, the fee is nonrefundable if the event is canceled due to the threat of or acts of God, war, terrorism, disaster, earthquake, government regulation and/or for economic/financial reasons.  While Mt. Sneffels does not offer refunds or deferrals, registrants may transfer their registrations to a different event on the same day or to another person.

No double dipping of prize money. Runners will receive the highest amount based on their overall placing.

Age Group Categories

Half - 19 and under, 5 year intervals up to 75+

Full - 19 and under, 10 year interval up to 70+

Age group winners can pick up their awards at the award table under the tent at the finish line. Prize money awards will be given on the main stage of the Ridgway Rendezvous at noon at the Ridgway town park.


At 10:30 a.m., there is a 1-mile Kids Fun Run. $15 registration fee and a finisher medal.

The entry fee includes snacks at the finish line, half price admission to the Ouray Hot Springs Pool and to the Box Canyon Falls and an official race tech shirt. Fees go directly to the Mt Sneffels Education Foundation , a non profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives and educational experiences of the youth in Ouray County.

Throughout the morning (starting from approximately 10:30am), bus transportation will be provided from Solar Ranches park (Ridgway) back to Ouray Hot Springs/Fellin Park. Participants who finish the marathon,and half marathon will be awarded finisher medals.


Packet Pick-Up for both races will be held in Ouray, at Fellin Park, on Friday, Aug 10th, from 5-8:00 pm. Packets will also be available for the half marathon the morning of the race starting at 6:30 in front of the Ouray Hot Springs Pool. Marathoners can get their packet at the Ridgway Solar Ranch Park starting line at 6:00 am. 


The 13.1 mile Half-Marathon course begins at the Ouray Hot Springs Park, north of town in Ouray, Colorado. The race winds through the city of Ouray and then goes north on County Road 17 to County Road 23 along the Uncompahgre River Valley and into the town of Ridgway.

The Full Marathon starts in Ridgway, goes to Ouray on the same course, and returns to Ridgway. The elevation of Ouray is 7700 ft. and the elevation of Ridgway is 7000 ft. This course is primarily on a dirt county road. It's a beautiful route.
